From August, 1996, to May, 2000, I studied Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
At university, I gained my first solid experience working working with software and hardware designs in a UNIX environment.
I also gained hands-on experience in the lab through course projects as well as extra-curricular activites.
In addition to my engineering coursework, I studied German. During my Junior year, I studied abroad at the Technical University of Vienna in Vienna, Austria.

Immediately after finishing university I began working at Motorola's iDEN division in Schaumburg, Illinois. As part of a large software development team, I became familiar with the entire software design cycle, from design to implementation to test.
I was also part of the software configuration management team, responsible for performing weekly merges and delivering weekly builds and patches.
Since August, 2003, I've been teaching English in China, first in Northeastern China at Yantai University in Yantai, Shandong, then in Southern China at the Guangdong University of Technology in Guangzhou, Guangdong.

Prior to visiting China, I studied Chinese in America. Over the past two years, my Chinese proficiency has improved dramatically, and I hope that my ability to communicate in written and spoken Chinese continues to improve in the future.
I've traveled throughout China, from Harbin, Heilongjiang, in the Northeast, to Haikou, Hainan, in the South, to Lhasa, Tibet, in the West. My perception of China is constantly changing as I see more and more of the country.
I maintain this website in order to let my friends, family, and whoever else is interested know what is happening while I'm living in China.
